This painting is also from the hotel magazine, featuring a rare white tiger in Cleveland Zoo. With my early works, I spent more time thinking than painting! How to apply the paint to get the effect of the tiger being in water?
I learnt subsequently that the albino phenomenon is due to a recessive gene which dominates in some tigers (very few). It seems most of the white tigers in North American zoos have been the result of inbreeding from a single white tiger brought in from India in the 50's. Apart from the white coat and blue eyes, the offsprings are also cross-eyed, have hip weaknesses and other deformities associated with excessive inbreeding!
