The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Leith Street, Penang is the island's foremost restoration project, winning the UNESCO Conservation Award 2000. It is well worth a visit if one has an interest in history, art or architecture. The building also embodies "perfect" feng shui!  A short tour immerses us in the life of  an awe-inspiring "rags to riches" Mandarin.

BC and I attended a wedding dinner in the Mansion some time ago. The ceiling of the dining hall was adorned with Chinese lanterns of every colour - the effect was dazzling and festive. The lantern I have painted is one of several from the Mansion.
