29. Ta Prohm Temple, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The world heritage site of Angkor Wat (built 12th Century AD) is a Hindu temple, a symbol of the ancient Angkor Empire. Within the Angkor complex are several temple ruins and sanctuaries. One can't but be impressed by the amazing architecture and construction of a bygone era. Do go, the place is spectacular, but please ensure you avoid the hot season!

Ta Prohm Temple was discovered in the midst of the jungle, untouched since it was abandoned. Massive roots of a banyan tree spreading over the temple testify to the power of nature. I could almost feel the roots slowly but surely overpowering the structure with its tentacles, like a giant octopus.....
